The Vapors – Second Album Acetate｜ Other Products

An original acetate of The Vapors’ second and final studio album, complete with a handwritten track listing on the accompanying sleeve. An acetate is a unique, one-off disc, used to check the sound quality of a recording during the transfer from tape to disc, the first step in creating test pressings. Issued in 1981, the album followed the band’s breakthrough debut New Clear Days, which featured the international hit “Turning Japanese.” Although it received far less commercial attention at the time, the record has since earned a strong following among collectors and fans of the British new wave movement. The handwritten sleeve lists the complete running order, including tracks such as “Jimmie Jones,” “Spiders,” “Daylight Titans,” “Silver Machines” and “Magnets,” adding to its appeal as a genuine working production copy. This test pressing comes directly from the personal collection of Mary Cobra (Mary Ramirez), founding guitarist of The Detroit Cobras, whose archive reflects a lifelong appreciation of influential rock and alternative music.Key Details & Collectability
